At this years PSMCA, President and Founder, Don Perkins presented, “Vessel Fire Investigations Navigating Troubled Waters.” This year’s PSMCA met in Seattle Washington where Mr. Perkins discussed the functions and responsibilities when it comes to submarine and large vessel losses.

Please join Clark Hill LLP Member Doug Wood, Fire Cause Analysis principal, Ulises Castellon, and Capital Insurance Group Regional Property Claim Manager, Juliet Schade, at the Combined Claims Conference for their presentation of “Fire and Explosion Investigations that Sizzle!”, a fast-moving and highly interactive fire claims workshop. The presentation starts at 10:30 a.m. onTuesday, March 6, in the Royal Ballroom E-F, in the Orange County Hyatt Regency. They will finish up by noon.

This workshop is designed to help develop the skills necessary for a thorough and effective fire claim investigation. Claims professionals will acquire the tools and perspectives needed to ensure cost-effective utilization of experts, to avoid common dangerous mistakes, and to minimize exposure to legal liability in the context of the overall claim resolution goals. One important tool for any insurance claims professional responsible for fire cases is the newly published 2017 edition of NFPA 921, A Guide for Fire and Explosions Investigations. This engaging program utilizes visually compelling fire case examples to illustrate the current state of the art/science of forensic fire investigation and to help claim professionals ensure a complete and proper investigation in a fire-related case.

FCA’s own COO, Ulises Castellon, will be presenting “Large Loss Fires – A Team Approach” at the Mid-Valley Claims Association meeting! This presentation will take place on Friday, July 21st in Stockton, CA.

Fire Cause Analysis has investigated many fires in terms of total dollar loss. Significant loss exposure due to: death/injury, direct property damage or loss of use, requires that coordination among many professionals [with varying interests] be maintained. Case studies of these large loss fires illustrate the tactical benefits and cost savings that can be realized. The effective utilization of “Examination Protocols” is also discussed.
